Holiday Inn
Been into town lately? Stroll out of Bute Park and you’ll see Holiday Inn has had a facelift. For its opening ceremony the hotel wanted a stylised, professional and friendly invite that matched their new look. We came up with the idea of personalising each card and incorporating one of the hotel’s new features to hint at all the recent redevelopments. A slightly textured paper stock made all the difference and with the joys of digital we were able to get the job delivered quicker that you can say: I need a holiday!

RBS Wales
Following the success of last summer’s ad campaign on icwales, we were asked to produce a new ad package to maintain the bank’s brand profile online. A slightly different emphasis on the copy lines combined with flash animation has resulted in ads with impact.

Decent Exposure
To complement Leah’s new website, we’ve produced a brochure promoting her photography services. The tone of voice was important and we all wanted to avoid reeling out ‘natural’, ‘stunning’, ‘beautiful’ because the images themselves were showing that already. It was over-telling. The core idea was to reveal the stories behind the images. Short emotive sentences, full-page pics and an unusual size resulted in an intriguing brochure that’s different and memorable.

Scuse Me While I KISS the Sky
We’ve been helping out KISS 101 designing various promo items and advertising materials to widen the profile of the radio station in the South West and South Wales region. We elaborated on the energy and colour of the brand to create these uniquely coded lottery lanyard tickets encouraging teenagers and students to connect with the station and be in with a chance to win an ipod nano. Watch out for a street team near you!

Get your Kiss Credits
KISS asked us to design two versions of a 28 page promotional booklet that tied in with the COI safety campaign, reinforced the KISS brand, was environmentally kind, had a 3 month shelf-life as well as manage production, budgets and proofing. Oh yes. And deliver within 3 weeks.

Gulp. But isn’t it amazing what pressure can do? We sprang into action and the client is very happy and excited about the finished product saying:

"It's truly incredible this project happened given the timeline we were working to. Putting together such booklets is not something we've undertaken before - we're extremely pleased and looking forward to doing more of this type of work with Blindspot in the future!"
Simone Traylen, Marketing and Promotions Manager KISS 101

Stick your neck out
Tarrbaby is singer and multi-instrumentalist Jonny Tarr. Things are starting to happen for the band and he approached us to come up with a series of logotype ideas plus artwork for the current ep and promo flyers. The approach and resulting creative is enthused by the infectious blend of sounds and styles and the unique Tarrbaby performance experience. Woman in a man’s world
Local entrepreneur Susie Wickham commissioned us to create a corporate identity for her property development business. We explored various colourways to produce a bold and assured solution that is also warm, approachable and expressive of Susie’s personality and what she brings to a property. All print was on 100% recycled stock and we also organised banner signage to advertise onsite.

NHS Confederation
We were asked by the lovely team at the Welsh NHS Confederation to produce a bilingual document About Our Work. We designed an uncluttered, user-friendly brochure that serves both as a general intro to the Confed and as an annual review for members highlighting recent achievements. We organised Welsh translation, imagery, proof read and sourced the print. The Confed share our views on sustainable publishing: we placed the print with MWL (who have the environmental standard ISO 14001 and use biodegradable inks) and printed on Revive 100 Offset, a paper made from 100% recycled content. It was a pretty tight turnaround to get it ready for the annual conference, but we all pulled together and phew, made it with a day to spare.

“Top-quality design, first-rate service, and sustainably produced too - thanks for doing such a grand job for us"
Kevin Sullivan, Policy & Public Affairs Manager Welsh NHS Confederation.

Leah photography
The reportage style of Leah photography is all about capturing the spirit of a wedding day without fuss, formality or intrusion. Other adjectives used to describe the business included professional, feminine and distinctive. Our approach? To design subtly and simply to let the quality of image speak for itself. It was a great opportunity to develop the branding we originally produced last year, drawing on illustrative styling, the warmth of colour (with touches of coral adding confidence and personality) to create a wedding photography site which doesn’t make you say cheese.

Bank job
Royal Bank of Scotland commissioned us to produce a series of online ads - appearing on the IC Wales website - to raise the profile of their Commercial banking division in Wales. We devised a campaign package, wrote the copy, produced the design and created the web-ready files. We developed clean, fresh, Welsh-focussed creative combining selected imagery, emotive words, targeted messaging and un-fussy animation to entice and drive traffic to the RBS microsite. The ads went live this week at: icwales and today we received this lovely email: “A big thanks for your help with the on line adverts you produced for RBS recently. We're all really pleased with  the creative, professional advice and overall service you provided. We've already received great feedback both internally and externally.” Victoria Holloway, RBS Wales Marketing Manager.

Design can change
Friday was a nice day. We had a wander around the bay and then went along to the Design Wales event 'Sustainable Graphic Design Workshop' in the Norwegian Church. Sophie Thomas went through the thomas.matthews manifesto '10 ways design can fight climate change' followed by Norman Faulkner talking about environmental issues and concerns in the printing industry. Relevant, encouraging, inspiring and achievable. Good biscuits too.

Dim dragons
We’ve been working closely with the bilingual online recruitment company dragonjobs to establish and develop their corporate ID and brand. There are no clichéd dragons – it’s more about showing originality, fresh thinking and vibrancy to stand out as the company of choice in the Welsh recruitment sector. We are rolling out the brand with marketing materials: flyers, brochures, posters, 4-sheets and streetliner bus ads. The team say candidates and businesses alike are responding positively to the brand’s look and feel. See the work here.

The distinctive smell of fresh print
Our new stationery has arrived! We opted for Take 2 Offset, a recycled paper made from 100% post consumer waste and printed with vegetable inks. The quality of the print and stock is superb: simple, clean and smooth and just goes to show that sustainable paper doesn't have to look like bog roll.

Pembrokeshire
Just spent a glorious couple of days down in sunny St David's: cliff-top walks, clear seas, friendly folk and gorgeous ice cream - what more could you ask for!

We stayed courtesy of the lovely people at the TYF Eco Hotel who have just commissioned us to design their print materials. Watch this space ...
