| We hear a lot about: going green, sustainability, carbon footprint, energy efficiency, but when it comes to print it is a minefield. Print is one of the biggest polluters around and although the industry is improving all the time, it can be confusing wading through the accreditations, the technology and the myths. We are not daunted because this is an issue that we strongly believe in and underpins everything that we do. There is lots to develop and learn about how we can run a more eco-aware business and also how we can minimise the impact of our clients’ projects on the environment: from the design stage right through to the paper stock, the print process and the item’s after life. We already spec. paper that is sustainably sourced backed up with verifiable credentials, recommend the use of vegetable inks, recycle all our waste paper and send correspondence electronically.
Green business practice is constantly evolving and it is worth pointing out that environmentally responsible design and print needn’t mean compromising on standards or expectations. We’ve found a couple of really helpful websites that highlight the key issues in print (www.lovelyasatree.com) and give ideas about how we can all make changes in our working lives (www.wearewhatwedo.org).
